July's Joy Newsletter

Welcome to the Kim Strobel Joy Newsletter!

What’s happenin’ over here.

I’m still rescuing dogs, much to my chagrin at times. It drives me crazy that we don’t have an animal control officer or animal shelter where I live, and so I’m the one who gets these calls and tries to get these poor pets to be surrendered by their owners. I can get really down when it comes to animal welfare and how little some people know or care about being a responsible pet owner.

This sweet little guy is a 6-month-old Schnauzer that was kept in a tiny kennel for hours each day while his owners worked. Many times, he was covered in feces. His hair was so matted, and he looked terrible. The final straw was last week when he was left in the 96-degree heat outside in another cage-like area with no shade.

After a lot of stress of trying to get the owners to surrender him, we finally freed him from his terrible conditions and got him groomed.

We found him a wonderful family who is committed to loving and caring for him forever! And that makes it all worth it. His name is now Kipper and he spent the weekend going to Starbucks for a pup cup and snuggling in bed with three sisters who love him. By the way, he is rescue #170 for us.

Products I’m loving…

Purezero Shampoo and ConditionerI was at my brother and sister-in-law’s house and saw this shampoo in one of their showers. Now, remember, I have very fine hair, so getting any kind of volume is hard, but this shampoo and conditioner really helped, and I loved its smell.P.S. My hubby loves it too!

Women’s Vintage Ruffle DressMy friend, Julie, knows I’m a sheath dress type of gal. It’s my signature dress style, and she found these for me on Amazon! For $43.99!!!! I ordered three (mustard, royal blue, and soft blue). They fit great, and the material doesn’t look cheap. Interestingly, I saw my sister-n-law post a pic at an awards ceremony, and she had ordered the black one of this dress! California Design Den Sheet SetWhen it comes to sheets, I am picky. I want them to feel a certain way, and the material is so important to me. So yep, I’m a sheet snob. That being said, I’ve been spending way too much on sheets because my friend just told me about these from Amazon, which are pretty darn spectacular. I just ordered some for my college son, who wanted new sheets and a new quilt set for his bedroom. 😂

For the Men!

Cole Haan Men’s Oxford ShoeI should have titled this newsletter “Things Kim’s brother and sister-n-law love” because I’m about to share the shoes I noticed my brother had on when I was staying at their place. He’s a financial advisor for Ed Jones, and I looked own and saw he had these trendy yet comfortable-looking shoes. So, I ordered a pair for my hubby, and he loves them. Yes, I know they are pricey, but Scott Strobel doesn’t ask for much. It’s his wife who’s the spender. 🥴

Books I’m reading and an APP I love…

I want to tell you about this app I discovered for my audio books. I’ve been spending about $229 a year on the Audible app for years now and then I found out about the Libby App. It’s an app that allows you to borrow ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, and more from your local library for free! So I’ve been listening to some great books while I take my runs. Here they are!

Behind Closed Doors

by B.A. ParisThis book is crazy good. It’s about a woman who was held captive by her super-successful attorney husband.

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind

by T. Harv Eker

I’m always reading about money because I have big plans with money, such as being able to fund my future animal sanctuary! This book is about how we can work with old financial blueprints that were implanted in us by our parents that might not be serving us anymore in order to attract and create abundance in all forms.
