How to Focus on Getting What You Want in 2019

This time of year, it’s all about the New Year’s resolutions. Making them … and then usually breaking them shortly thereafter.

Every new year brings the opportunity for change. But resolutions aren’t necessarily the way to go about making that change happen. In fact, studies have shown that less than 25% of people stay committed to their resolutions through January—and only 8% actually fulfill their resolution. Yikes!

So instead of setting yourself up for failure with a resolution, a better choice might be to choose a word of the year.

What’s a word of the year? It’s a word that brings you clarity and helps you focus on what you want to create in your life. It’s about finding a mantra to help guide your daily actions on the journey to becoming a better version of yourself.

Sounds kinda crazy, right? But some very successful people are on board with choosing a word of the year. Melinda Gates recently revealed that her 2018 word of the year—grace—worked so well for her, she plans to use it just a little bit longer while she decides on her 2019 word!

So I feel like I’m in pretty good company! I’ve chosen my word of the year, and I’m excited to share it with you and let it start working its magic.

My 2019 word is “INWARD.”

Why “inward”? Because I have a habit of distracting myself … of keeping myself super-busy … of being an overachiever. And often the reason I do these things is so I don’t have time to feel uncomfortable in my life.

So even though I plan to have a kickass (and busy) 2019, I also want to bring some awareness to the inside of who I am. To really pull my attention inside my body, mind, and heart and see all that dwells there.

I want to “sit” inside myself and explore the layers that make me who I am—even when it feels uncomfortable—because I want to find a bit more peace this year.

Part of my kickass 2019 includes kicking off my new RISE UP 10-week program. It’s all about helping women rediscover their happiness and achieve new levels of success. This program is going to be a lot of work—for me and for the participants—so turning “inward” is more important to me than ever!

It’s a new year—and that means it could be time for a new you, too. So … what’s your 2019 looking like? What’s your word of the year? And what will you do to start creating a life you love?

(If you need a little help with that last question, I invite you to sign up me for my FREE masterclass, How to Elevate Your Happiness & Amplify Your Success. The next one is coming up soon, and I guarantee you’ll get answers to a lot of your questions—and so much more!)

SHARE TIME: I want to know what your word of the year is, so hop in the comments and share the word you’ve chosen. More importantly, let us know WHY you chose it!
