Happiness Does Not Equal Perfection
A friend of mine recently sent me this image that she’d created for me. I must admit that it brought tears to my eyes for a couple of reasons. First, in appreciation for the thoughtful gift. Second, for the meaning behind it.
You see, there was a time when this girl was completely lost … lost from herself, lost from who she really was on the inside, and lost in low self-esteem.
But when I look at this picture, I see strength—the strength to keep trying. I see a girl/woman who said, “I’m not giving up!” And this is something I still tell myself everyday. That I shall continue to work to overcome my obstacles. I shall continue to put one foot in front of the other regardless of my circumstances. I shall choose HOPE!
Though many of my problems are now behind me, my life is far from perfect. But here’s the thing: Happiness isn’t about trying to have a perfect, flawless life. It’s about learning to embrace the real you … full of imperfections, but perfectly imperfect.
This is what I’m going to focus on this fall at my live events. It empowers me to see people signing up for these events. They are making the commitment to reclaim their happiness and embrace their authenticity.
Together, we can lift each other up and support one another as a tribe that’s focused on flourishing. Won’t you join us?
